Founded in 1980, 2006 marks the 25th Anniversary of Gary Hutton Design. Soon after founding his design firm, Gary Hutton participated in his first show house, which quickly won him recognition for his unique sense of space and design. Since that time the firm has specialized in point-of-view residences. Gary Hutton has continued to work on major residential, commercial and hospitality projects including high rises residences, specialty stores, office spaces and restaurants in the US and Mexico.

After designing custom furniture for his clients, in 1984, he introduced The Gary Hutton Furniture Collection. The line has grown into a unique collection of over 25 pieces featuring his signature metal tables alongside exquisitely detailed upholstered seating and furnishings.

Hutton's formal and academic training in art, sculpture and interior design, along with his affinities for conceptual art and hand craftsmanship, are all evident in the pieces in the line. Consequently, the furniture tends to have a clean, sculptural quality together with a quiet luxury and inventive use of materials. Particular attention is focused on comfort as well as the sculptural appearance of each piece in the collection. Gary Hutton believes that a good piece of furniture needs to be considered from all sides.

The greatest care is taken to ensure that only the best materials and finest craftsmanship are utilized in the construction of each piece. In designing and producing furniture, Gary Hutton strives to produce a lasting product. Something that in future years will be recognized as a quality object that recalls a sense of the era in which it was produced yet has its own sense of timelessness.

The bronze furniture is divided into two categories - cast and fabricated. The cast pieces are made by the lost wax process; a centuries old process in which the wax positive is melted away and molten bronze is poured into the mold. The fabricated pieces are made with 1/4 inch thick solid bronze plate which is precision cut and welded into shape.

The upholstered furniture is entirely bench made. The frames, made in-house, are hardwood which is glued, screwed and doweled to ensure longevity. All decks are eight-way, hand tied, coil springs over jute webbing. Armchairs and sofas have spring edge decks. The sizes of the wooden feet are adjusted to compensate for the thickness of the fabric so that the set back is consistent. Each piece is upholstered by a single craftsman so that a consistency of shape is always maintained.
